Larva And Adult Mosquitoes Smell Differently.

Adult mosquitoes exhibit complex behaviors (see here) and express about 80 odorant receptors between the antennae, maxillary palps and the proboscis.
By contrast, larvae are mainly preoccupied with feeding and escaping predation. They also possess a reduced number of odorant receptors, of which 2/3 are only used by the larvae (L).
